Glendoveer aka 120 Inglewood Drive lists at $16.8M

120 Inglewood Drive - Exterior

The unfortunately named Glendoveer recently hit the market with listing agents at Harvey Kalles at $16.8M. The property at 120 Inglewood Drive boasts grand rooms with elaborate moulding, original limestone ceiling medallions, and epic oak paneling throughout. Glendoveer is a rare example of the city’s Edwardian mansions.

Fun Fact

Completed in 1908, Glendoveer has seen it’s fair share of wealthy owners and Toronto’s elite, but none quite as colorful or interesting as European actress Luigina Lollobrigida, better known as “Gina”. Considered one of the most important sex symbols of the time, everyone was in love with Gina – so much that when Fidel Castro decided to break the cold war silence in Cuba, he would only do an interview with her.

Am I the only person that had no idea who Luigina Lollobrigida was until this article?

$17 million…Canadian dollars?! That’s insane for any house, but this one, no way!

In 1915 Glendoveer was owned by Frederick H. B. Mercer who also
owned the Toronto Milling Company at Barberton (Streetsville, Ontario)

My father was born in this house in 1915 when my grandfather was living there as Frederick Mercer’s coachman. I’ve always wondered what “Glendoveer” meant on my father’s Ontario birth registration. Now I know. Pretty amazing!
